Professional Background
Dana brings her unique experience to Hilltop, having worked for many years with both the United States Conference of Mayors and Embassy of Sweden, respectively, on critical international and domestic policy issues and the development of public-private partnerships.
- Served as Director of Corporate Relations & Program Director for the Embassy of Sweden. Dana directed the successful groundbreaking launch of the “House of Sweden” based in Washington, D.C., promoting Swedish culture and commerce. The program went on to gain international recognition and generated over a million dollars in corporate partnerships that helped fund cultural events and policy related forums and seminars between Swedish and American corporations, non-profit associations, educational institutions and government agencies.
- Served as Director of Business Development for U.S. Mayor Enterprises, the for-profit entity of the United States Conference of Mayors. Dana worked in an advisory capacity with mayors and their staff to develop urban improvement initiatives such as energy conservation, affordable housing, public safety and small business development. As a result, these programs expanded opportunity for economic stability and enhanced community resources to urban areas across the U.S.
- Served as Managing Director for CitiesFirst, a nationwide program within the U.S. Conference of Mayors designed to create more affordable homeownership alternatives and support the longer term needs of urban areas, low- and middle-income families, and their surrounding neighborhoods. Dana traveled throughout the country on behalf of CitiesFirst, and conducted roundtables with mayors and community officials that led to the development of local partnerships with organizations working in the areas of affordable housing and economic development.
- Served as Director of Surrogate Media Operations for Gore-Lieberman 2000 in Michigan. Throughout this time, Dana implemented key strategic communications plans and planned and executed campaign media events for Cabinet officials, members of Congress, celebrities and political activists. For the past decade, Dana has also worked on several other political campaigns at the state and national level.
- Served as Senior Associate for Dewey Square Group, a nationally recognized public affairs firm. While at Dewey, Dana managed client relations and projects on behalf of several Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, housing and finance intuitions, municipal governments and non-governmental organizations.
A native of Michigan, Dana holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a MA in Public Policy from The Johns Hopkins University. Dana resides in Washington, D.C. with her husband Dominic.
