Organizing Allies and Building Long-term Relationships
The Challenge:
In the District of Columbia, a city-based association recognized
that it faced an increasingly hostile regulatory environment and had
no allies to advocate for it. The association found it was not
getting credit for its charitable efforts in the city and had no
cache with lawmakers or the community. In an effort to prepare for
future legislative fights, the organization turns to Hilltop to help
it find allies.
The Hilltop Solution:
To build public support, Hilltop proactively increases the dialogue
between the association and key community groups in the District.
Executing an issue mobilization campaign, Hilltop helps the
organization reach out to local media and conducts a series of
seminars where the association offered free advice to District
residents in the wards of key council members. The seminars help get
the organization’s brand out in the community and help position our
client as a positive force in the city.
The Result:
The successful campaign increases public awareness of the
association’s efforts in the city. The effort generates greater
motivation among community organizations and local government
officials to work more closely together to find policy solutions
that enhance, not hurt, the association’s work.
